Kinzey Honored for Nonprofit Contributions
Ruth Kinzey received the Tall Pine Award from Camp Courageous of Iowa.
Ruth Kinzey was recognized at the Camp’s major fundraiser, a Pineapple Gala, on Aug. 19, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
According to Executive Director Charlie Becker, Kinzey provided substantial public relations support during the early years of the Pineapple Gala and three-week pineapple sale fundraiser. Her
efforts gained significant exposure for the Camp’s major fundraising event at a time when it was becoming established and helped the gain momentum for the annual event. Now a tradition, this affair continues to generate considerable monies to help support the Camp’s operation.
"We never got to thank her for the outstanding volunteer service and dedication before she moved," said Becker, when he presented Kinzey with the plaque.
Kinzey continues to support to Camp Courageous.
Camp Courageous of Iowa provides year-round recreational and respite care facilities for individuals with special needs and their families since 1972. Accredited by the American Camp Association and certified by the Independent Charities of America as one the “Best in America” charities,
Camp Courageous has served individuals ranging in ages from 1 to 105, with visual, mental, physical or other disabilities. Located in Monticello, IA, the camp is run on monetary donations and gifts of time, materials and volunteerism, as it receives no government donations and is not affiliated with a religious
institution or the United Way.
